CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois University juniors J.T. Wise and Johannah Yutzy are this week's Regions Bank Scholar-Athletes of the Week.
Wise, who holds a 3.2 GPA as a physical education major, caught the game-winning touchdown in Saturday's 30-23 overtime victory against Missouri State. Primarily the lead blocker for Saluki tailbacks, Wise entered the game with just one reception on the season. The 12-yard TD catch was a career long for the native of Farmersville, Ill.
Yutzy led the Salukis (1-1 on the weekend) in a two-match Missouri Valley Conference homestand. She posted a team-high 20 kills, seven digs and four blocks, while hitting .341 with an average of 3.3 kills and 1.2 digs per game. Yutzy majors in marketing and has a 3.11 GPA.
