Brittany Riley named MVC Field Athlete of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Southern Illinois thrower Brittany Riley was named the Missouri Valley Conference Female Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

Riley, a sophomore from Flossmoor, Ill., threw 72-3.75 (21.99 meters), breaking the automatic qualifying mark of 21.00 meters in the women's weight throw. The mark clinched her first meet title of the season, while breaking the SIU record, Missouri Valley Conference record and SIU Recreation Center record, all 71-3.50, held by teammate Amarachi Ukabam.
