Women's Basketball Wraps Up Season Saturday at Drake

DES MOINES, Iowa. - Southern Illinois (3-23, 1-16) concludes its 2004-05 season Saturday when it visits Drake (12-14, 7-10). Tip-off is set for 2:05 p.m., at the Knapp Center.
SIU enters tomorrow's game on a seven-game losing streak after recently falling to Creighton (78-58) Thursday.
The Salukis are led by Danette Jones, who averages 14.1 points per game. Jones topped SIU with 16 points against the Bluejays after having been held to under 10 points in her previous two outings.
Daphney Desamours follows with 11.8 ppg. A native of Miami, Fla., Desamours had to leave Thursday's game due to a sprained ankle.
As for Drake, it has gone 3-3 in its last six games. Most recently, the Bulldogs lost to Evansville, 68-62, Thursday in Des Moines.
Four of the Bulldogs' five starters average double figures in the scoring column. Jill Martin paves the way with 13.9 points, while Linda Sayavongchanh (12.7 ppg), Lindsay Whorton (11.3 ppg) and Brandy Dahir (10.5 ppg) follow.
SIU trails its overall series against Drake, 37-20. The Salukis, who have lost 18 in a row to the Bulldogs, haven't won in Des Moines since 1996. Also, Drake took the first meeting of the season, 70-49, on Jan. 2 in Carbondale.
