Saluki Tennis Place Five on MVC Scholar-Athlete Team

CARBONDALE, IL. - Four members of the SIU men's tennis team and one member of the women's tennis team were selected to the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar Athlete team today.
Seniors Alexandru Nomicos and Lukasz Soswa were unanimous selections to this year's team. Nomicos for the second-straight year, boasts a 4.00 GPA as a Finance major, and led the Salukis at the No. 1 singles position. Soswa boasts a 3.93 GPA in Pre-Medicine and posted a 9-5 record in singles play for the Dawgs this fall.
Joining the two seniors are juniors Bojan Ilievski and Tomas Gonzalez. Ilievski has a 3.00 GPA in Economics and notched and 5-2 record in the spring for the Dawgs, while Gonzalez, posted an 11-11 record the Salukis this year, and has a GPA of 3.70 in Business Administration.
Senior Tana Trapani was named to the women's MVC Scholar-Athlete Team for the second straight year. Trapani boasts a perfect 4.00 GPA in Accounting, and has been a leader on somewhat of a young Saluki squad this year. Trapani has a 4-2 record in singles play this Fall and is 2-0 in MVC matches.
