Men's Tennis prepares for MVC Individual Championships

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois men's tennis team travels to Des Moines, Iowa this weekend for the Missouri Valley Conference Individual Championships. The team is 1-3 after playing four matches last weekend in just three days.
The Salukis have had a light week of practice in attempt to recover from the physically demanding schedule last weekend.
"We are looking forward to the tournament," said coach Dann Nelson. "But we are also trying to recover from last weekend, since most everybody played eight matches. We're a little bit sore and run down, but we will be ready to play."
Not only is the MVC Individuals a competitive tournament, it also is a chance to scout the other conference teams.
"This tournament is great preparation for conference," said Nelson. It gives us a chance to see the new players teams have brought in, and see how everyone stacks up."
