Riley named MVC Female Field Athlete-of-the-Week

CARBONDALE, Ill.-Southern Illinois University junior thrower Brittany Riley was named this week's Missouri Valley Conference Female Field Athlete-of-the-Week, the league announced today.

Riley, who hails from Flossmoor, Ill., automatically qualified for NCAA Indoor Nationals and broke her own SIU Rec Center record in the weight throw during the Saluki Fast Start last weekend.

She posted a 72-02.25 (22.0m) on her first throw to clear the 21.00 automatic standard by one meter. She later out-did that mark with a heave of 74-09.75 (22.80m) to win the event for SIU.
