Men's tennis edges Murray State 4-3

PADUCAH, Ky. - The Southern Illinois men's tennis team took the doubles point and three singles matches to earn a 4-3 victory over Murray State Wednesday in Paducah, Ky. The Salukis improve to 6-5 on the season while the Racers fall to 4-7 overall.
SIU took the early lead winning the number one and two doubles matches.
In singles action the Salukis won the first three contests. Andrei Bubnov got things started with a 6-2, 6-3 victory at the number four position.
Sergio Sanchez took down Nicholas Ksiezopolski 6-1, 6-2 in the three position. The win makes it eight in a row for Sanchez. In singles play he is 11-3 overall.
Tomas Gonzalez kept the streak going with a win in the number five spot. This put SIU up 4-0 and clinched the win despite losing the next three singles matches.
SIU has a busy weekend ahead as they travel to Rockford, Ill. on Friday to face Northern Illinois. Saturday and Sunday the Salukis are in Chicago for matches against Illinois-Chicago and Chicago State.
