DES MOINES, Iowa - Southern Illinois sprinter Anthony Acklin ran 14.02 in the 110-meter hurdle prelims Friday at the Drake Relays to take a number two seed into Saturday's finals.
Acklin also ran the lead legs of the 4x100 and 4x400 relays, but the Saluki teams did not qualify for finals in the events. Acklin, along with Felix Anderson, Antoine Jennings and Stevie Warren ran 41.54 in the 4x100 prelims, finishing sixth in their heat. The same four athletes ran 3:15.48 to finish 16th overall in the 4x400.
Warren went on to finish 19th in the 100-meter dash in 11.02.
The women's relay team of Bianca Stuart, April Heath, Marquita Vines and Andrea Norris finished 47.80 in the 4x100 and 3:55 in the 4x400. Neither relays advanced to finals.
Acklin, along with the women's sprint medley, and field events, including the men's discus, triple jump and hammer throw and women's long jump and hammer throw, will wrap up competition for the Salukis on Saturday at the 96th annual event.
