Baseball places four on MVC Scholar-Athlete Team

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Kevin Koski and Grant Gerrard earned first-team honors, while Nathan Emrick and Adam Snyder were named honorable mention on the 2006 Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Baseball Team, announced today by the league office.
Koski, one of four repeat first-team selections, sported a 3.49 GPA in Physical Education. A native of Schaumburg, Ill., he took first-team CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V laurels earlier this year.
Gerrard, who hails from Castle Rock, Colo., makes the league's scholar-athlete team for the first time in his career. A Plant and Soil Science major with a 3.23 GPA, he was also a first-team CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V pick.
Emrick and Snyder were voted to the Valley's scholar-athlete team for the third year in a row. Emrick hails from Griggsville, Ill., and boasted a 3.20 GPA in History, while Snyder, a native of Pittsburgh, Pa., held a 3.51 GPA in Accounting.
All in all, 31 MVC baseball student-athletes received recognition for their athletic and academic achievement. A total of 37 student-athletes were nominated for the scholar-athlete team.
