Saluki Athletics names Shalae Schulte to media services staff

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois University Athletic Department announced Thursday that Shalae Schulte has been named associate director for media services.
A native of Norway, Iowa, Schulte was promoted to full-time after spending two years as a graduate assistant for Saluki Athletics.
Schulte will serve as the primary media contact for women's basketball, volleyball and outdoor track & field.
"Shalae is a bright, young professional, who has been a tremendous asset to our office the last two years," said Tom Weber, director of media services. "I'm pleased to add her to the staff full-time."
As a graduate assistant, Schulte has worked with numerous sports, including men's basketball, while earning her master's degree in physical education and sports studies.
Prior to SIU, Schulte worked for the Cedar Rapids Kernels baseball team, an Anaheim Angels affiliate of the Class A Midwest League, during the 2004 season. She assisted with day-to-day operations at Veterans Memorial Stadium, the host site of the 2004 Midwest League All-Star game.
In 2004, Schulte earned a bachelor's degree in communications and public relations from Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where she also played softball.
While at Mount Mercy, Schulte served as the sports information student assistant for two years working with all 13 varsity sports.
Schulte also spent time working for Perfect Game, USA, the world's largest baseball scouting report service, monitoring and maintaining indoor hitting facilities, as well as the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena, assisting with the organization and public relations of arena events, including USHL hockey games for the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders.
