Men's Tennis Double's Duo Beaten in Championship Match

Des Moines, Iowa - After wins in the quarterfinal and semifinal flight two doubles rounds at the 2007 State Farm MVC Individual Championships, SIU's Hugo Vidal and Karl Nilsson lost in today's championship match.

Vidal and Nilsson won their quarterfinals match on Friday with a 9-7 win over Creighton's Mike Elson and Jose Guerra. The pair followed that win by dispatching Bradley's Matt Metully and Richard Robertson 8-4 in semifinal play.

The Saluki duo battled hard in Sunday's championship match against Drake's Sergi Vila and Ivan Mendoza but came up short. The pair lost the match by an 8-6 count.

The Salukis will return to action next week when they face Oklahoma on Friday in Edmond, Okla.
