Smith named Gateway Conference Offensive Lineman of the Week

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois University sophomore Shawn Smith was named this week's Gateway Football Conference Offensive Lineman of the Week.
Smith, a native of Hutchinson, Kan., helped lead SIU's high-powered offense to a league record 72 points against Indiana State last week.
Behind Smith and company, the Salukis piled up a season-high 321 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns. SIU also went its second game without allowing a sack this season.
The Dawgs lead the nation in scoring offense, averaging 53.4 points per game.
Smith earned the weekly honor for the first time in his career.
