Dougherty named Gateway Conference Special Teams Player of the Week

CARBONDALE, Ill.-Southern Illinois University true freshman kicker Kyle Dougherty is this week's Gateway Conference Special Teams Player of the Week.

A native of Merritt Island, Fla., Dougherty made 4-of-4 PATs and kicked two field goals for a total of 10 points against Illinois State Saturday.

Dougherty connected on a 36-yard field goal with 7:59 left in the third quarter and career-long 44-yard field goal at the 3:30 mark of the fourth quarter.

He has now made five-straight field goals and 32 consecutive PATs.
