CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois men's golf coach Leroy Newton announced Friday the signing of Patrick Scheil (Williamsburg, Va.) for the 2008-09 season.
Scheil, a sophomore at John A. Logan College, was named to the 2006 All-State Team after posting four individual wins and taking the Region 24 Individual title during his freshman year. This past fall, he set the John A. Logan fall season scoring record with a 71.0 scoring average, and was the Illinois State Junior College Champion.
Scheil attended Walsingham Academy High School and was a three-time State Champion and two-time TCIS Conference Champion.
"We're very excited to get Patrick, because he's an impact player and will be able to step right in and help the team," said Newton.
The men's golf team is coming off one of it's most successful fall seasons, placing in the top-five in five out of six tournaments, and taking second-place three times.
The Salukis open the 2008 spring season Feb. 18-19 at the Carlton Oaks Invitational in San Diego, Calif.
