Salukis finish 12th at Rio Verde Invitational

RIO VERDE, Ariz. - The Southern Illinois women's golf team finished in 12th place after shooting a 317 at today's final round of the Rio Verde Invitational in Arizona.
The Salukis finished the tournament with a team total of 921, following rounds of 307, 297 and 317.
Josie Lowder and Braidy Hood finished for 35th with weekend totals of 230. Lowder shot an 81 today while Hood posted a 79. Both finished 14 over par for the tournament. Christine Zoerlein finished the tournament 15 over par with a 232 (80-73-79), good enough for a 43rd-place tie.
Kelly Gerlach finished tied for 52nd with an 18-over par 234 (78-76-80) for the tournament. Lauren May tied for 55th place with her 19-over par 235 (78-75-82). Samantha Sutzer ended her weekend in a tie for 60th place with a 20-over par 236 (81-76-79).
"It was just one of those days where, out of all six of us, nobody played very well," said head coach Diane Daugherty.
SIU will return to action when they host their annual Saluki Invitational on March 25 and 26.
"Our next goal is to win the Salukis Invitational," said Daugherty. "We have a little time off to work toward that."
