CARBONDALE, Ill.-Southern Illinois University true freshman outfielder Aaron Roberts was named to the College Baseball Foundation's Weekly National Honor Roll Tuesday.
Roberts, who hails from Chatham, Ill., hit .455 (10-for-22) with seven runs scored, a triple, one RBI, a .545 slugging percentage, a .478 on-base percentage and two stolen bases to lead the Salukis to a 4-1 record last week.
He extended his hitting streak to eight games, the longest by a SIU freshman this season.
Roberts also registered multiple-hits in four of five games, and matched a career-high of three at Middle Tennessee State on Mar. 14.
One of five Salukis to hit .400 or better on the week, Roberts made four starts in center field. He moved there from his natural right field position after Kevin Koski was removed from the lineup due to a hamstring injury.
Roberts is the second Saluki to make the CBF's Weekly National Honor Roll this season, joining catcher Mark Kelly.
