CARBONDALE, Ill.-Southern Illinois University sophomore right-hander Cody Adams is this week's Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher-of-the-Week.
A week after suffering his only loss of the season, Adams carved up Valparaiso for a career-high 10 strikeouts and allowed just two hits in a complete game 7-0 shutout on Easter Sunday.
A native of Viola, Ill., Adams recorded at least one strikeout every inning, did not allow a walk and retired 13 of his last 14 hitters in the nine-inning gem.
He improved to 8-1 on the year after tossing his first career shutout and second complete game in three starts.
Adams is the first Saluki pitcher to garner the weekly honor this season. He is also the first since right-hander P.J. Finigan won the award on May 9, 2005.
