Softball cancels doubleheader with Illinois

CARBONDALE, Ill. - For the second year in a row, rainy weather has forced the cancellation of the Southern Illinois University's softball doubleheader with the University of Illinois.
The teams were set to square off in a 2 p.m. doubleheader at Charlotte West Stadium.
Steady rain showers that began across southern Illinois on Wednesday morning that are expected to continue through the rest of the day forced the cancellation of the games.
The Salukis (37-11) are set to return to the field on Saturday, May 5 with their final series of the regular season, a three-game set with Wichita State. Action is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m., Saturday with a doubleheader at Charlotte West Stadium.
