West wins Flight D singles at Louisville Fall Invitational

Louisville, Ky. - Eric West won Flight D of singles play to lead Southern Illinois at the Louisville Fall Invitational.
West opened with a first round bye before defeating opponents from Cleveland State and Illinois State to advance to the Championship round against Jon Sigurdsson of Indiana State and winning 6-1, 6-2.
"Overall I'm happy with the way we played but we need to work on a few things," Head coach Dann Nelson said. "We can use this as a confidence going into the ITA Regional."
Hugo Vidal was defeated in opening round singles action when he went down with an injury against Jared Miller of Toledo while Sebastian Rubiano advanced to the quarterfinals of Flight B before dropping the match to Vuk Milicevic of Eastern Illinois, 6-4,5-7,6-3.
In Flight A doubles action, Hugo Vidal and Sebastian Rubiano were defeated in the first round by DePaul's Alasdair Graetz and Jose Moncada.
The Salukis are back in action on Oct. 15 when they begin play in the ITA Central Regional in Fayetteville, Ark.
