Mixon named MVFC Defensive Player of the Week

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois University outside linebacker Chauncey Mixon was named this week's Missouri Valley Football Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

Mixon, who hails from Mobile, Ala., registered career-highs in tackles (13), tackles for loss (4) and forced fumbles (2) against Illinois State Saturday.

Mixon reached double-digit tackles in a game for the first time this season and ninth time in his career. He was one of three Salukis with 10 or more tackles on the day. Mixon currently ranks third in career tackles for loss (36) at SIU.
