Six in a Row
SIU advances to the NCAA Division I Football Championship for the sixth-straight year. The Salukis own the nation's secondlongest FCS playoff streak behind only Montana (16-consecutive appearances). New Hampshire is third with five-straight FCS playoff appearances.
Dawgs Host Again
The Salukis host a first-round playoff game for the third year in a row. SIU has played host to a total of five FCS playoff games and owns a 3-2 record in those contests. The Salukis have faced Eastern Washington (L, 31-35, first round, 2004), Tennessee- Martin (W, 36-30, first round, 2006), Eastern Illinois (W, 30-11, first round, 2007), Massachusetts (W, 34-27, quarterfinals, 2007) and Delaware (L, 17-20, semifinals, 2007) in postseason games at McAndrew Stadium.
Salukis in the Postseason
SIU is 7-5 all-time in NCAA Division I Football Championship (formerly I-AA playoffs) games. The Salukis advanced to the Elite 8 in 2005 and 2006 and the Final Four in 2007. SIU won its only national title in 1983.
