Salukis in Top-10
SIU cracked the Top-10 for the first time this season when it was ranked ninth in this week's NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (formerly I-AA) Coaches Poll. The Salukis were last ranked in the Top-10 when they were third in the final 2007 FCS Media and Coaches Polls.
MVFC Race Tightens
Northern Iowa (5-1) took over sole possession of first-place in the Missouri Valley Football Conference with a commanding 30-6 win at Western Illinois last weekend. The Panthers hold a 1/2 game advantage over SIU (4-1) and South Dakota State (4-1). Should SIU win its remaining three games, however, the Salukis would earn the league's automatic berth. WIU (3-2) is still in the mix, too.
At the Mac
The Salukis are a red-hot 14-1 in their last 15 games at McAndrew Stadium. SIU is 33-4 in Carbondale since the start of the 2003 season. The Dawgs are undefeated (4-0) at home this year.
