Obergoenner named Prairie Farms/MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week

ST. LOUIS - Junior golfer Todd Obergoenner (Cape Girardeau, Mo./ Cape Central) was selected the Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week Wednesday for his performance during the period of April 7-13.
Obergoenner who has a 4.0 cumulative grade-point-average in university studies, was named the State Farm MVC Golfer of the Week on April 9 after finishing second overall at the ASU Indian Classic in Jonesboro, Ark. with the second-lowest 54-hole total in men's golf history at 12-under-par 204.
Obergoenner's second place finish was also a career-best, and helped the team secure the third-lowest 54-hole team total in school history at 13-under-par 851.
This is Obergoenner's first career scholar-athlete of the week award, and the fourth time a Saluki student-athlete has been honored for academics by the league office during the 2007-08 year.
To qualify for the Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week award, student-athletes must carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.00, completed as least one academic year at a Valley institution and must be at least a sophomore in academic standing.
