CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois University named Casey Hale the Director of the Saluki Athletic Scholarship Fund on Thursday. Hale, who has spent the last 18 months working as a development associate in the school's athletic department, will oversee a fund that raised nearly $865,000 in fiscal year 2007.
"Casey brings a tireless work ethic and a commitment to customer service that will serve him well in leading our annual fund," said Associate AD for External Operations Chet Savage. "We are excited to have him in the elevated role of annual fund director."
SIU has been without an annual fund director since February of 2008, when George Robinson left for a similar position at Delaware State. The SASF increased by 45 percent last year and is tracking well above that level this year.
Prior to joining the Salukis, Hale worked for seven years for Federal Express, based out of nearby Marion. He is a 2004 SIU graduate with a degree in recreation and facility management and also has a master's from Southern in sports administration.
