Salukis compete at day two of Drake Relays

DES MOINES, Iowa - The Southern Illinois University men's and women's track and field teams continued competition at the 99th annual Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa today.
The Salukis began the day with action in the 4x100 relay. The women's team of Bianca Stuart, Kandise Thompson, Meredith Hayes and Bianca Stuart finished 16th with a time of 46.80. For the men Stevie Warren, Sammy Biggs, Brandon Deloney and Justin C. Kozak finished in a tie for 14th with a time of 41.96.
Deloney posted a time of 11.04 in the 100-meter dash preliminaries, finishing in 20th place. Norris finished 19th in the women's 100-meter dash preliminaries with a time of 12.13.
The Salukis' 4x1600 relay team of Kevin Doran, Greg McBride, Jason Brosseau and Jason Ordway placed 14th with a time of 17:37.60
In the 4x400 relay preliminaries, Thompson, Kendra Deck, Tredene Davis and Andrea Norris finished in 26th with a time of 3:52.26 for the women. On the men's side, Biggs, Kozak, Brett Brachear and Deloney posted a time of 3:12.44 to finish 10th.
In the 4x200 relay, the women's team of Gabbi Meniefield, Thompson, Hayes and Terri Counts ran a 1:44.17 for a 14th-place finish. For the men Brachear, Biggs, Deloney and Kozak finished in 11th place with a time of 1:28.31.
Trenton McKinney placed 19th in long jump with a mark of 22-00.25 (6.71m).
Brittany Riley finished 20th in discus with a throw of 141-06 (43.12m).
The Salukis will complete competition at the Drake Relays tomorrow. Action begins at 8 a.m. and SIU will compete at 8:11 a.m. in the shuttle hurdle relay.
