Riley, Stuart advance to finals day one of NCAA Championships

DES MOINES, Iowa - Southern Illinois thrower Brittany Riley advanced to the finals of the women's hammer throw after just one toss in the prelims Wednesday at Drake Stadium. Teammate Bianca Stuart used two jumps to automatically qualify herself for the long jump finals.
Riley threw 211-07 (64.49m) in her first toss of the day, well above the automatic mark of 208-04 (63.50m) for a pass to finals, seeding herself first just above national leader this season Eva Orban of USC with a toss of 210-11 (64.30m).
Stuart jumped 21-07.50 (6.59m) in her second jump of the day to advance to the finals. She enters Thursday in sixth.
Finals for Stuart will take place Thursday at 4:30 p.m. Riley will throw Friday at 3:15 p.m.
