Football to honor its 1983 National Championship team this weekend

CARBONDALE, Ill.-This year marks the 25th Anniversary of Southern Illinois University's 1983 National Champion football team. Over 40 members from that squad will be returning to campus for a special reunion this weekend.
Several events have been planned to honor the '83 Salukis, who won the program's only national title.
Coaches planning to attend are Rey Dempsey, Glen Follis, Rod Sherrill and Mike Wallace. Players include Tony Adams, Tony Anderson, Ed Barrett, Tom Baugh, David Bock, Mike Brascia, Francis Carr, Gary Carter, Todd Church, John Cook, Donnell Daniel, Charles Field, John Field, Kenneth Foster, Joe Graves, Tiffany Hamilton, Tony Haywood, Sterling Haywood, Javell Heggs, Robert Howell, Rick Johnson, Robert Johnson, Peter Kowalski, Ron Miller, Mike O'Day, Frank Pasquino, Steve Piha, Bruce Phibbs, Cecil Ratliff, Curt Reed, Ashley Sledge, Terry Taylor, Derrick Taylor, Ralph Van Dyke, Shane Watson, Dan Wetzel, Jim White, Andy Wilson, John Wilson, Tony Wrenn and Daryl Young.
Coaches and players will be recognized at halftime of the SIU-Northern Iowa game Saturday.
