NORMAL, Ill. - Southern Illinois completed its fourth fall tournament of the season, finishing in a tie for 10th place at the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate Monday afternoon.
SIU's combined score of 918 after 54 holes matched that of South Dakota State, but still left the Salukis 12 strokes out of the top five.
Patrick Scheil continued to shine on the course for the Salukis, firing identical rounds of 74 on day two. His final score of 220 (+10) was good for seventh place and his second straight finish in the top-10 this year.
Jake Erickson captured his best finish to date, also carding 70s across the board and finishing with a 229.
Jordan Cox posted a second round of 69 but it was not quite enough to offset his first round of 84, leaving him just one stroke behind Erickson.
Blake Driskell and Jeffrey Miller finished the tournament with scores of 242 and 247, respectively.
Host Illinois State finished first overall shooting 293-286-295=873, fielding three golfers in the top-10.
The Salukis will be tested one last time in preparation for the spring season when they travel to Kettering, Ohio for the University of Dayton's Fall Invitational Oct. 19.
