Swimming and Diving bested at Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Southern Illinois men's swimming and diving dropped its first dual meet of the season Saturday at the University of Kentucky.
The Salukis (2-1) placed high in nearly every event but it was not enough top the Wildcats (2-1) in the end.
Matt Parsons posted a first-place time in the 1000 free with a time of 9:37.82, while newcomer and Egypt native El Badrawi finished third in the 200 free (1:41.65).
Tim Silkaitis added points for SIU with a first-place finish in the 100 back, swimming 51.71. Jameson Kuper also had two top-three times in the 100 breast (59.65) and 200 breast (2:10.59).
Justin Wolfe swam 1:52.46 in the 200 fly, good for another first-place finish.
Justin Ruszkowski dominated in the diving events. In the 1-meter dive he earned top honors, recording a decisive score of 264.10. In the 3-meter dive, he took second place scoring 284.75.
Sophomore Cesar Perez took second in the 200 back (1:53.69) and first in the 200 IM (1:56.90) to round out the day for the Salukis.
SIU will return to the pool Oct. 30 when it hosts Washington at 5 p.m. CT.
