First Quarter
SIU Captains: 64, 90, 92, 97
Senior right tackle Shawn Smith made his 42nd consecutive start.
Deji Karim scored on a 92-yard run on SIU's first play from scrimmage. It broke the school record for the longest run in school history. The previous long was an 85-yarder by Andre Herrera against Northern Illinois in 1976.
Mike McElroy intercepted his second pass of the season at 9:25. It was his fifth career interception.
Karim returned a kickoff 69-yards to the WIU 26-yard line, setting up his 3-yard TD run at 2:41.
With SIU leading 14-3 after the first quarter, the Salukis have now outscored their opponents 128-33 in the last 16 games.
Second Quarter
Karim's 42-yard reception inside the 11-minute mark is the longest of his career.
Allaria's 39-yard reception from Dieker inside of five-minutes was the duo's fifth connection for over 20 yards this season.
Kyle Dougherty made two field goals in the period. The first was from 43 yards at 3:58 and the second was a 37-yarder with seven seconds left.
Karim finished the half with 217 all-purpose yards.
The Salukis led 27-10 at the half and have now outscored opponents 322-125 in the first half of games since 2008.
Third Quarter
Dougherty hit a 43-yard field goal at 8:49, his made field goal of the game. Linebacker Fred Wright recorded his first sack of the season near the eight-minute mark.
Dieker's interception at 5:23 was his first thrown in his last 91 attempts.
Scott Cole recorded his first career-sack at 4:13.
Lance Caldwell recorded his first career interception at 2:42 that he returned 26 yards.
Fourth Quarter
Travis Littles recorded a sack at 5:50.
McElroy intercepted his second pass of the game at 5:35.
Final Notes
Southern Illinois has now won eight-straight games against Western Illinois.
SIU is now 10-0 under head coach Dale Lennon against unranked opponents.
The Salukis have won all seven games under Lennon when they had a 100-yard rusher.
