Maroon Madness set for Friday, Oct. 16

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Maroon Madness, the official tip-off of the Southern Illinois men's and women's basketball season, is set for Friday, Oct. 16 at Davies Gym.

Volleyball will host conference rival Drake at 6 p.m. Following the match, at approximately 8:30 p.m., the Saluki men's and women's basketball teams will take the Davies Gym floor.

The event will introduce the 2009-10 Saluki basketball teams and include a slam-dunk contest, 3-point shoot-out and short scrimmages by both teams.

Admission to the Saluki Volleyball match is $5 for adults and $3 for youth (high school and under). Students are free with a valid SIU ID. Admission to the basketball portion will begin after the second set of the volleyball match. Seating is extremely limited and on a first-come, first-serve basis.
