Pre-game Notes
• SIU Captains: 13, 26, 48, 86
• Southern Illinois won the toss, deferred to the second half. SDSU to defend the South goal.
• The was the first meeting in MVFC history between two league teams with 6-0 conference records.
First Quarter
• Senior right tackle Shawn Smith made his 47th-consecutive start and senior linebacker Brandin Jordan made his 43th career start.
• Jordan recorded his 10th career sack on the first third down of the game.
• Kyle Dougherty hit a season-long 49-yard field goal at 11:02 to start out the scoring Saturday.
• Kyle Walker recorded his sixth and a half sack on the year on a second-and-10 and then he shared a sack with Jason Seaman on the next play to give SIU three sacks in the first seven minutes of the game.
• Joe Allaria scored a 21-yard rushing touchdown after McIntosh threw a lateral out to him at 4:13. It was Allaria's second career rushing touchdown.
• Southern Illinois held the Jackrabbits scoreless in the first quarter, which was the third consecutive game they did not allow any points in the first 15 minutes.
Second Quarter
• Deji Karim had rushes for 27 and 41-yards in the second quarter, which were his 16th and 17th rushes of over 20 yards this season.
• John Goode caught his third touchdown pass of the season at 6:39 and it was McIntosh's second-career TD pass.
• Kyle Russo recorded his second and a half sack of the season with 2:12 left in the half.
• Lance Caldwell intercepted his third pass of the season and returned it 75-yards for a touchdown. It was the fifth longest interception return for a touchdown in school history and it extended SIU's streak to 10-straight games with at least one pick.
• SIU had five sacks in the first half - its season-high coming into the game was four, which they recorded in four different games.
