Tony Freeman named MVC Newcomer of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Saluki guard Tony Freeman was named the Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week, the league announced Monday.
The Iowa transfer averaged 19.0 points, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals in wins over SEMO and Alabama State last week. Freeman shot a combined 10-of-17 (.588) from 3-point range and 14-of-22 (.636) from the field.
In the win at SEMO, the 6-foot-1 senior made three 3-pointers in the first five minutes of the game to jump-start the Saluki offense. He finished the game with a career-high 26 points.
