Swimming and Diving finishes day two of Mizzou Invitational

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Southern Illinois relay teams highlighted the Salukis' performance on day two of the Mizzou Invitational.
In Saturday's opening event, the 200 medley relay, Tim Silkaitis, Jameson Kuper, Anthony Bousquet and Matt Parsons finished third with a time of 1:33.30. Bousquet also posted a top-five finish in the 100 fly, swimming 49.97 for fifth place overall.
Matt Kruse finished seventh in the 200 free at 1:41.59. On the women's side, Therese Mattsson finished sixth in the same event at 1:51.84.
Kuper recorded the best finish of the day for the Salukis, taking top honors in the 100 breast swimming 55.98.
Closing out the second day of competition, Parsons, El Badrawi, Chris Jordan and Kruse finished third in the 800 free relay (6:47.33) and Kirsten Groome, Tovah Gasparovich, Jill Weckbach and Mattsson finished seventh (7:40.39).
The Saluki men stand in third place and the women in eighth heading into Sunday's final races. Preliminaries will begin at 10 a.m. with event finals beginning at 6 p.m.
