Softball moves into USA Today/NFCA Top 25

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Saluki softball team moved into a tie at No. 24 in the USA Today/NFCA top 25 poll released on Tuesday after going 4-0 in the season's first tournament.

The No. 24 national ranking, which the Salukis share with San Diego State, is the first for the program since the end of the 2007 season.

SIU is also near the top of those receiving votes with 17 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Top 25 poll.

Since the 2003 season, Southern Illinois has been ranked in at least one of the two major polls 50 times and was ranked for a program record 13-straight weeks during the 2007 season.
