CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Saluki softball team entered the ESPN.com/USA Softball top 25 at No. 22 on Tuesday and moved up five spots to No. 19 in the USA Today/NFCA poll.
Southern Illinois is now ranked in both major polls for the first time since May 9, 2007.
The program's No. 19 ranking is also one spot away from the highest-ever ranking of 18 reached on March 27, 2007.
SIU entered one of the major top 25 polls two weeks ago on Feb. 10, and has continued to move up since going undefeated in all three tournaments so far this season.
The Salukis' 11-0 record is the second-best start all-time after going 12-0 to begin 1991, and Southern Illinois is one of only six undefeated teams in the country that have played at least one game this year.
