Carbondale, Ill.-The Southern Illinois men's tennis team stepped outside conference play for win over Eastern Illinois, 6-0.
The match, which was moved to Sports Blast, only featured singles play as the Salukis swept all six matches including wins for both seniors, Felipe Villasenor and Hugo Vidal, who played their final career home match.
"Both of the seniors came through and won their last matches at home," Head coach Dann Nelson said. "They both have had very good careers and they're not done yet they have some more wins to notch."
Villasenor got the win at No. 1 over Jeff Rutherford, 6-3, 6-4 while Vidal was victorious at No. 4 defeating Jamie Firth, 6-2, 6-0.
"The guys played good today this team beat us 4-3 last year so it was important for us to come back this year and take care of eastern like we did and were just excited for the weekend conference matches," Nelson said.
The Salukis will return to action on Saturday as they travel to Illinois State on Saturday.
