Moccia to begin search for new head coach

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois Director of Athletics Mario Moccia will begin the search for a new women's basketball head coach immediately.
Moccia discussed what he is looking for out of SIU's eighth head coach in the 50-year history of the program.
"There's about 12 or 13 factors that I've identified," Moccia said. "I want somebody who will care about the student-athlete. I would like somebody who's a hard worker, because I think you have to out-work your competition here.
"I would like someone who's a proven winner, somebody who can recruit and somebody who will be a contributing member to the staff and the community."
Moccia will be leaving the men's Final Four Monday to travel to the women's Final Four to search for a suitable candidate.
