Weather shortens Men's golf tournament to 36 holes

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Saluki men's golf team beings play today in the 12-team Branson Creek Inviational at the Branson Creek Golf Course in Hollister, Mo. Due to inclement weather, the tournament has been reduced to 36 holes, with 27 being played today and nine on Tuesday.
Southern Illinois will go up against six other Missouri Valley Conference opponents with Bradley, Creighton, Drake, Illinois State, Northern Iowa and host Missouri State in attendance.
Also competing in the field is Nebraska, Oral Roberts, Stephen F. Austin, Arkansas-Little Rock and Western Illinois.
The team is coming off a third place finish at the First Market Bank Intercollegiate and has place in the top five in all three spring tournaments.
The Salukis will look to improve on last year's 11th place finish in the Branson Creek Invitational, and continue preparing for the MVC Championship in two weeks in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
