Jeff Jones hired as Academic Advisor

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Saluki Athletics announced Monday the hiring of Jeff Jones as its new Academic Advisor.
Jones has spent the last two years as an Academic Graduate Assistant in Saluki Athletics.
"We are very fortunate to have Jeff join our academic support staff in athletics," Southern Illinois Assistant Athletic Director Kristina Therriault said. "Jeff's passion for helping young adults and his own success as a student-athlete will benefit our academic program tremendously."
While earning his bachelor of science degree in education, Jones was a member of the Saluki football team. He was a member and team captain of three Gateway Football Conference Championship teams (2003-05). He graduated in 2006, majoring in commercial recreation.
Jones went on to earn his Master of Science degree in recreation administration at Southern, named SIU 2008 Graduate Student of the Year.
Prior to working at SIU, Jones spent two years as the recreation coordinator at the Boys and Girls Club of Carbondale where he instructed a national program to address gang awareness through the Boys and Girls Club of America.
