CARBONDALE, Ill. - Right-handed pitcher Andrew Dunn signed a free agent contract with the Milwaukee Brewers Tuesday.
Dunn was told he'll likely be joining the Brewers' rookie league team in Helena, Mont., in the upcoming weeks.
"Andrew had a good year and it's nice to see him get a chance to play professional baseball," said Saluki head coach Dan Callahan.
Dunn went 8-4 with a 3.15 ERA in 18 appearances and nine starts for Southern Illinois University this past spring. He struck out 29 and walked 10 in 71.1 innings.
Prior to SIU, Dunn won six games and recorded 52 strikeouts at John A. Logan College. He was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 29th round of the Major League Baseball Draft following that year. However, he chose to return to Logan, where he went 9-1 with a 1.57 ERA.
