First Quarter
SIU Captains: 31, 43, 47, 52
Senior right tackle Shawn Smith made his 41st consecutive start.
Senior Brandin Jordan's third tackle of the game, near the six-minute mark, was his 300th career tackle. He becomes the 13th player in school history with 300 career stops.
Linebacker Kyle Walker recorded his second sack of the game near the 2:20 mark, giving the senior his first-career multi-sack game. He came into the contest with just two career sacks.
Southern Illinois did not score a touchdown in the first quarter, marking the first time all season that SIU did not score at least one TD in a quarter.
Second Quarter
Dieker hooked up with Jeff Evans for a 61-yard touchdown at the 10:25 mark. It was SIU's third touchdown on the season that went for 50 or more yards.Southern Illinois' scored on just four plays, which was its fifth scoring drive of the season that used five plays or less.
With the Salukis scoring first in the game, they have now been the first to get on the scoreboard in 17 out of the last 19 games.
North Dakota State's rushing touchdown at the 5:36 mark was just the second surrendered on the ground this year.
Kyle Dougherty connected on a 44-yard field goal at 2:41. He is now 2-for-2 on the year.
Dieker finished with 137 yards passing in the first half, moving him into 11th place on the SIU career passing yardage list.
Third Quarter
Deji Karim was held in check in the first half with only 31 yards rushing, but scored on a 23-yard run at 8:54 to put the Salukis ahead 17-7.
Fourth Quarter Joe Allaria caught his third career touchdown pass at 8:16.
