CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois University athletic administrators, headed by Director of Athletics Mario Moccia, met Tuesday night in the SIU Arena with approximately 255 people in attendance to discuss the Saluki Way project and the reallocation of men's basketball and football seating options.
The Town Hall Meeting was the first of two scheduled, with the second being held at the Marion High School Auditorium on Thursday, Jan. 21, from 6-7:30 p.m.
"Certainly we wanted to get the opportunity to show everybody what the facilities are going to look like because many people haven't seen them," Moccia said. "Hopefully a lot of information was disseminated at this meeting. Our job is to educate people on this system so they have the maximum comfort level of when they are going to select (their tickets) and what they can do to improve their standing in the order. We just encourage everybody to ask their questions."
Fans in attendance were able to get a more personal approach and ask questions about their individual situations.
The point total determining the order in which season ticket holders can purchase new tickets in the retrofitted SIU Arena and new football stadium are based upon two different groups. Individuals in both groups will be assigned Select-A-Seat date and times based on their priority point ranking (note: the individual with the most priority points within each group is donor rank #1) and will be able to personally select their seats at a yet to be determined date in April or May.
Group 1
All individuals supporting Saluki Way through a major gift will be assigned a specific date and time in the first seat selection group according to their SASF priority point total. All contributions to the Saluki Way athletics project of $25,000 or greater are considered major gifts. Saluki Way contributions are above and beyond SASF gifts required for priority seating and parking and are payable in any increment over a five-year period.
Group 2
All other 2009-10 season ticket holders and those submitting a Letter of Intent will be assigned a specific date and time immediately following the first selection group according to their SASF priority point total. Please note, individuals who make a Saluki Way commitment at a level less than $25,000 can still significantly enhance their seat selection ranking. All Saluki Way gifts are payable in any increment over a five-year period, and donors will receive all priority points associated with their full pledge commitment immediately.
