CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois junior cornerback Nick King will miss the remainder of the season with a knee injury that he suffered in SIU's 38-17 win at No. 19 Illinois State on Oct. 2.
King, who started the first five games at left corner for Southern, had a career-high six tackles before going down with the injury in the fourth quarter against the Redbirds. The East St. Louis, Ill.-native had 13 tackles and one pass breakup on the season.
He is the fourth Saluki defensive back lost for the season with a leg injury. Junior safety Rashad Graham and sophomore corner James McFadden, both projected starters entering the year, suffered knee injuries before the season started. Senior captain Mike McElroy had season-ending ankle surgery after SIU's second game of the season.
Southern Illinois (3-3, 2-1 MVFC) has lost 27 games this year from injuries to players that were listed as first or second team players on its depth chart entering the season.
