No. 15 Southern Illinois looks to win its third-straight game as the Salukis host South Dakota State at Saluki Stadium this Saturday on Family Weekend at SIU...Kickoff for the third meeting between the Salukis and Jacks is at 2 p.m...Fans can listen to the game on the Saluki Sports Network beginning at 1 p.m. on WVZA 105.1-FM in Carbondale. "Voice of the Salukis" Mike Reis, Gene Green (analyst) and Joel Sambursky (sideline) are calling the action...The 2008 meeting in Carbondale between SDSU and SIU was the first ever between the two schools and the teams combined for 73 points and 730 yards of offense in that game on Nov. 15. SIU came out on top, 38-35, thanks to a Kyle Dougherty 28-yard field goal and an interception by James Wheeler in the final three minutes...The Salukis enter the game fresh off two-straight wins over ranked opponents to get their record back to .500...Southern Illinois has won 13-straight home Missouri Valley Football Conference games and are 23-2 at home in league play dating back to 2003...SDSU enters the game averaging 124.4 rushing yards per game and 108.8 of that comes from Walter Payton Award candidate Kyle Minett. In last season's 34-15 win over the Jacks, Southern Illinois held SDSU to just 14 yards rushing as a team and Minett had 61 yards on 11 carries. Minett had 26 carries for 90 yards and two touchdowns vs. SIU in 2008...Senior wide receiver Jeff Evans is coming off a seven-catch, 159-yard and two touchdown performance and SIU threw for 329 yards in last weeks win over No. 15 Northern Iowa. The Salukis jumped up six spots into a tie for 15th place in the FCS Coaches Top 25 poll this week.
Saluki Headlines
Southern Illinois looks for its third-straight win and this comes after the Salukis lost three straight to end the month of September.
SIU has won 10-straight games in the month of October and is 43-8 in regular season games since 2003 in the months of October and November.
David Pickard was named the MVFC Offensive Lineman of the Week on Monday.
