The Southern Illinois football team (3-4, 2-2 MVFC) hits the road for the first time since Oct. 2, as the Salukis play a 2 p.m. game at Missouri State (3-4, 2-2) this Saturday...The Salukis and Bears are set to meet for the 33rd time at Plaster Field...Fans can listen to the game on the Saluki Sports Network beginning at 1 p.m. on WVZA 105.1-FM in Carbondale. "Voice of the Salukis" Mike Reis, Gene Green (analyst) and Joel Sambursky (sideline) are calling the action...Southern Illinois is looking for its eighth-straight victory over the Bears and the Salukis have won five of the previous seven games by 10 or more points...SIU is 9-6 all-time when playing MSU in Springfield, Mo. and the all-time series is tied at 16 wins apiece...Missouri State is 3-0 at home this year and has won four-straight MVFC games...The Bears have the nation's fifth-ranked scoring offense, sixth-ranked total offense and seventh-ranked rushing offense, but rank last in the nation in pass and total defense...Senior wide receiver Joe Allaria leads the MVFC with 6.3 catches per game and he has caught a pass in 27-consecutive games. Allaria needs two more receptions to move into second place for the most catches in SIU history...The Salukis have allowed 519 yards rushing in the last two games and Missouri State is coming off a 351-yard rushing performance in its win over No. 18 Western Illinois last weekend.

The Salukis have on their last five games coming off a bye week.
Southern Illinois has only lost three conference games one time in the last seven seasons. That came in 2006 when the Salukis went 4-3 in the Valley, but still reached the FCS playoffs.
Note of the Week
Southern Illinois is one of the least penalized teams in the nation. The Salukis lead the MVFC and rank No. 8 nationally with 4.57 penalties per game for an average of 38.9 yards. The Salukis are ninth in the nation in per game penalty yardage and SIU's penalty average is 14.8 yards less than Indiana State's, which ranks second in the Valley as the least penalized team in terms of yardage. SIU's 32 penalties are 11 fewer than what South Dakota State and Missouri State have, who are tied for the second fewest. Last year, Southern Illinois drew an average of 6.08 penalties for 58.8 yards per game. The Salukis ranked third in the Valley in number of penalties and sixth in penalty yardage.
