CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois junior center Bryan Boemer was named the Missouri Valley Football Conference Offensive Lineman of the Week and senior quarterback Chris Dieker was named the College Football Performance Awards National Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.
This is the first and only national player of the week award for the Salukis this year. It comes after Dieker threw for a career-high 279 yards and a personal best four touchdown. He also ran for two scores in SIU's 49-21 win over Indiana State last Saturday.
For Boemer, this is his second MVFC Offensive Lineman of the Week award in his career.
Boemer and the Saluki offensive line guided the offense to a season-high 508 yards of total offense against the Sycamores. His protection of Dieker allowed him to set new career-highs in passing yards and touchdowns thrown in his final game in a Saluki uniform.
SIU ran for 229 yards in the win and had two different running backs with over 70 yards on the ground. Boemer and the Saluki offensive line did not give up a sack on the day and the team averaged 7.4 yards per play and 18.6 yards per pass completion.
