The Southern Illinois baseball team hosts Middle Tennessee for a two-game, midweek series on Tuesday and Wednesday in the home opening series at Abe Martin Field. First pitch for both games is set for 2 p.m. Live stats are available at www.SIUSalukis.com, as is radio streaming through Saluki All-Access.
"Voice of the Salukis" Mike Reis is calling the games on the Saluki Radio Network. Both Tuesday's and Wednesday's broadcasts will air live on the radio at WFRX 1300-AM.
The Salukis are coming off a series win at Jacksonville State this past weekend. SIU had 44 hits and scored 39 runs while winning 2-of-3 games against the Gamecocks.
Sophomore first baseman Chris Serritella is coming off the best game in his career. In the 18-15 victory over JSU on Feb. 28, Serritella set new career-highs with five hits, six RBIs, and two home runs. He also hit three doubles, which tied the SIU single-game record. Serritella was 7-for-15 at the plate over the weekend with nine runs driven, a 1.267 slugging percentage and three home runs in the series.
Tuesday's game begins a stretch for Southern Illinois where the play 10 games over the next 13 days. After the midweek series with Middle Tennessee, the Dawgs host Purdue for a three-game set at "The Abe" on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
SIU's game on May 18 against Saint Louis has moved from Sauget, Ill. to Abe Martin Field in Carbondale and will now be played at 3 p.m.
