CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois baseball team is hosting its 14th annual Fish Fry and Memorabilia Auction, Friday, April 2 at the Carbondale Civic Center from 5-8 p.m.
Dinner includes all you can eat fish, potato salad, coleslaw, bread, soft drinks and homemade desserts. Tickets for the dinner are $6 and the memorabilia auction begins at 7 p.m.
"This is our 14th Annual Saluki Baseball Fish Fry/Memorabilia Auction, which I think speaks volumes of how supportive the Southern Illinois community has remained to Saluki Baseball," head coach Dan Callahan said. "In today's world of Division I athletics, we are now more than ever forced to raise funds to help subsidize our budget. We feel the event prices are very reasonable for a nice meal, it's a fun event, and we hope to have some neat memorabilia items for the auction.
"There are a lot of Carbondale businesses, as well as professional sports organizations throughout MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL, and even more that have been kind to Saluki Baseball through the years, and we truly appreciate their continued support. The proceeds from this event go toward team travel, equipment purchases, field renovations and the like, and it is a vital cog in our ability to move forward."
Sponsors for the event are Country Insurance and Financial Services, the SIU Credit Union and the Southern Illinois Orthopedic Center. All proceeds benefit Saluki Baseball.
Featured items available at the auction include autographed items from Alex Rodriguez and CC Sabathia from the New York Yankees, Chipper Jones of the Atlanta Braves, Derrek Lee and Ryan Theriot of the Chicago Cubs, Adrian Peterson and Percy Harvin of the Minnesota Vikings, Deron Williams of the Utah Jazz in addition to other items.
Several sets of tickets for the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs will also be up for auction at the Fish Fry. For further information, please contact the Saluki Baseball office at 618-453-3794.
