Softball to host Indiana State this weekend

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Salukis gear up for a conference matchup against Indiana State this weekend at Charlotte West Stadium. Southern is currently 24-12 overall, while sitting in second place in the MVC with a 9-1 conference record. The Sycamores are 14-19 overall, 1-9 in Valley play.
SIU is on a three-game win streak heading into the series after sweeping Bradley last weekend in Peoria. This marked the third sweep of the conference season for SIU, previously taking down Missouri State and Creighton. Southern swept the doubleheader against Evansville, but dropped the third game of the series for its only conference loss so far.
Southern hopes to keep racking up the conference wins, heading into the series with an all-time 62-17 lead over the Sycamores. Since taking over as head coach in 2000, Blaylock has only lost two of her 30 meetings with Indiana State.
The two teams will face off Saturday with a doubleheader at noon, followed by a single game at noon on Sunday to wrap up the series.
In addition, SIU will welcome back 80 former players in an alumni reunion. The players will be recognized in between games of Saturday's doubleheader.
